Sunrise in the mountains is always spectacular.

When helping Jane and Andy begin to plan their October Colorado Elopement, we started to look for a location that their family could all stay at with nearby amazing mountain views. Cue Twin Lakes and Independence Pass – a quaint little area nestled in a valley surrounded by 12,000 – 14,000 ft mountains.

For their first look, we headed up Independence Pass to 12,095′ for an alpine start. We were hoping for Milky Way views, but with Colorado’s smoky skies as of late, the stars didn’t make an appearance. On the flip side, the smoke created an amazing haze that surrounded the entire pass. As the sun began to rise, the smoky haze turned an array of colors – from Blue to Orange to Pink. Everywhere you turned, the scenery was uniquely stunning.

After popping some bubbly to celebrate the occasion, we headed down the pass to meet their families at Twin Lakes for a lakeside ceremony. To witness their union, both their parents and siblings came out to Colorado. Jane’s mother even painted an amazing mountain portrait of the Newlyweds as a gift.

To cap our time together, we headed back to their AirBnb for some breakfast (which was DELICIOUS) and cake.

I had such an amazing time celebrating with you, Jane and Andy! Thank you for getting up at the literal crack of dawn to adventure with me.

Cheers –
