Becky and Pete | Vail, Colorado Skiing and Snowboarding Engagement

I’ve been Snowboarding for 25+ years, and needless to say I LOVE IT! One of my very favorite things in the world is a powdey day on the back bowls, perhaps drinking a margarita or two between runs. Colorado has the best Champagne Powder around.

Funny story – my parents put me into ski school when I was 4 years old (or so I’m told, I don’t really remember) – and they were called back to come get me shortly after they dropped me off. Apparently, I didn’t like the fact that I had a male ski instructor and promptly took my skis off and started throwing them 😂. My, how times have changed.

When Becky and Pete talked about having an adventure for their engagement session and brought up skiing – I was SOOO EXCITED to shred some pow-pow with them. We met at the base of Vail mountain, and headed up to the infamous Back Bowls. To say there was a bit of powder would be a severe understatement. We walked out into at least 18″ of fresh snow that had fallen the night before. SO MUCH AMAZING FLYING POWDER!!! After boarding through that much powder, I actually bought special lens caps to help keep my lenses clear of any snow – as I kept finding myself having to wipe off my cameras between shots.

After a few fun runs, Beck and Pete changed into elopement attire. Pete in his tux, and Becky bravely into a dress and leggings. It was a balmy 4* or so outside – and I was quite impressed that Becky took her coat and gloves off for a few photographs. The end result is amazing in my opinion, but I’m still shivering just looking back at the images!!

As with all days on the mountains, we ended in the best way possible – with some hot drinks and delicious food.

I know that Covid has made for alternative wedding plans for Becky and Pete, but I am so thankful for our time together up on Vail Mountain. I wish the two of you all the love and happiness, and hope that our paths cross again up on the slopes.
