Jennifer and Kameel’s SkyView at Estes Park Wedding | July Wedding with Portraits in Rocky Mountain National Park

Jennifer and Kameel are both Doctors who travelled out to Colorado for their stunning wedding at SkyView at Fall River Village. I think I write about this in every single wedding blog that I have for SkyView – but seriously, I love this place. The views, the access to Rocky Mountain National Park, the town of Estes – but mostly I LOVE working with the people. Tripp and Wendy will make sure that you have the best wedding day experience (and vendors always have a great experience there, too).

Along with their families and guests, Jennifer and Kameel came out to Colorado from Indiana. As the day progressed, we came to realize that nearly everyone in attendance was a Doctor. I’m sure that my husband would agree when I say I think I’m rather funny at times (but am probably not in the slightest) – but I laughed when I asked if there was a Doctor in the house during our portraits.

I also found the fact that Jennifer is a Neurologist and Kameel is a Cardiologist very fascinating – together you have the head and the heart. And the two of them worked very well together, just as the head and heart have to work with one another to make a functioning being.

I met Jennifer and Kameel on the morning of their wedding in the bridal suite for a few getting ready photographs before we headed out to Rocky Mountain for portraits. The two of them decided to do their first look on the SkyView property, then all of us headed into the park together.

Rocky Mountain has instituted a reservation system over the past 3 years – but don’t fret about getting a reservation. I always carry a Commercial Use Permit, which gets us into the park and serves as our reservation.

In Rocky, we made a few stops and watched the skies change from sunny to dramatic. Jennifer and I were both so happy to see nice, dramatic skies – as both of us agree that those amazing darker skies make for stunning portraits.

Once back on property, we met with the Bridal and Grooms party for some portraits. Kameel is from Russia, and as someone who grew up with a Grandfather that emigrated from Russia – I know that Russians love to dance and party. Kameel and his Groomsmen were certainly no exception. I think this is the most times I’ve seen a groom tossed into the air on one wedding day – which makes my job incredibly fun. Jennifer comes from an Indian family and background – which (as seen in the dancing photos) made for such an incredibly fun mixing of cultures and dancing. I am 10000000% here to learn and experience all the different wedding traditions, cultures, and dances.

Somehow, the rains held off until well after their ceremony and cocktail hour. One of my favorite things about having a first look is that you’re able to attend your cocktail hour – which makes for (in my opinion) the best candids and opportunity to get genuine photographs of your guests.

After hanging out on the rooftop for a bit, we headed downstairs for dinner, toasts, and the dance party. Once we got inside – the sky broke open and the rains began to pour down. Just before dinner – Jennifer and Kameel took a few minutes to have private vows to one another. They wanted them to be totally private – so they hung out on the patio while I took photographs from inside looking out. I think that those are some of my favorite photographs – as you can see the emotion that they’re both feeling, and can tell that it’s a genuine moment where there’s physical separation between the camera and Jennifer and Kameel.

And then into the night- for what has quickly become one of my favorite parts of the day – the dance party raged until the lights came on. I was unsure what kind of night that we’d have – I always try to gauge if I need my dancing shoes or my more mellow shoes through the evening. We had a PAR-TAY going on. Kameel was thrown in the air again, they both were lifted into the air multiple times, the glow sticks came out… it was such a fun evening.

To end our time together, Jennifer and Kameel had a grand exit heading out the main doors at SkyView. All of their guests lined up with glow sticks to send them off.

Thanks again for inviting me to celebrate with you – I had such a great time and it was an absolutely lovely day.

Cheers –
