Mountain and Adventure Elopements

Across the Rocky Mountains

OHV and Jeep Elopements

Jeeping and OHVs have a special place in my heart.  I own a lifted Yellow Rubicon (my good ol' Hella Yella) that sees lots of gravel and dirt time.  I've recently gotten the hubbs and kiddo into Jeeping around with the top off and the tunes blaring.  If you hear Pearl Jam or Pink Floyd blasting from someone's open window, coming down the mountain - regardless of weather - chances are it's me.

There are SO many amazing locations here in Colorado that are accessed by Jeep and OHV!!  From Yankee Boy Basin in Telluride to private land near my Cabin in the San Luis Valley (YES, we can TOTALLY go there for your elopement!!).  I'm an experienced 4x4 driver, with a Kurgo seat cover to bring the puppers along as well.  I'm happy to share some of my very favorite Jeeping spots to adventure to for your elopement!

Jeeping Bonus: I bring along the Camping Stove for coffee and brekkie for those early morning alpine starts!

Skiing and Snowboarding Elopements

I've been Snowboarding for 25+ years at this point (hello giving away my age!).  Getting up early to hit the slopes on a Pow Pow day is hard to beat.  My personal favorite mountain is Copper - I grew up boarding and learning how to ride park there!  These days, I'm a little less rails and kickers, and a little more bowls and tree bashing.

Looking to hit the slopes together?!  I'm happy to help with everything from logistics to recommending the best Apres booze (Kickapoo Tavern!).  I've boarded on most of Colorado's slopes throughout my two and a half decades of shredding.  I do have a list of mountains that are HIGHLY on my "YAAS" list to board down **Telluride, wink wink**.

To get the best photos possible while heading down a mountain at high speeds with frozen water flying everywhere, I've even crafted a totally custom backpack to properly hold my gear.  To say I'm excited about hitting the slopes with you would be an understatement.

Hiking and Summit Elopements

Summer time is Hike time!!

I love to spend my summers hiking to alpine lakes or conquering summits!  In 2020, I summitted 9 unique 14ers (and a 10th repeat summit... dont' dare try to tell me that effort is for naught), 4 unique 13ers, and hiked to countless Alpine Lakes.  My favorite 14er thus far is Handies Peak in the San Juan mountains (SO STUNNING), the scarriest was Torrey's Peak via. Kelso Ridge (Spicy Ridge Spine at Class 4/4+), and the longest was Humboldt Peak (nearing a whopping 15 miles in a single day).  Unbeknownst to many, I have pretty severe asthma.  I may not be the fastest hiker (especially at altitude), but I am a stubborn little shit and throughly enjoy my Uncrustable at our destination.

I'm here to help with planning, logistics, mountain scouting - you name it!  If you're wanting to hike it - I'm there!  I can recommend everything from a short, easy hike (Lake Isabelle being a favorite) to a full day where we continually say "we really worked for those photos" (Mt of the Holy Cross on the list for a full day adventure).  I've hiked all across our beautiful state, and am more than happy to help answer any questions you may have!

Tip: Rolling your Gown reduces wrinkles!  Looking to have your bouquet stay on the front of your bag?  Attach a few Keyrings to existing ribbon and create a way to quickly fasten your flowers!

Frequently Asked Questions

When will we receive our photos?

Photos are delivered within 2 weeks of your elopement.  I post a Sneak Peek posted on Social Media within 24 hours for you to see while you wait for your photographs to be edited!

How far out do we look at booking?

Weekend and Prime Elopement dates tend to book about 8-14 months out.  Weekday and Off-Season (Late fall through Early Spring here in Colorado) book typically 1-3 months out.

How many photos are included?

Each elopement day is incredibly unique.  I don't guarantee image count since each day has it's own details and timeline, but a good estimation is about 50 - 75 images delivered per hour photographed.

Will my photos be edited?

Yes!  All of your elopement photographs are hand edited by me, myself, and I.  I don't oursource any editing - I retouch every image that you receive in your gallery.

Do we have to hike?

Adventure isn't exclusively hiking!  There are many ways to have an incredible elopement day full of adventure, mountains, and all around awesomeness without hiking.  We're fortunate that here in Colorado, there's many roads that will take you directly to stunning locations.

We need help with locations, permits, and logistics! Can you help us?

I sure can!  I'm a born and bred Coloradan - who has a multitude of experience finding just the right location for your vision!  I've been a professional photographer in the state for 10 years, and have become very familiar with our permitting system and legal logistics of elopements.  I'm happy to help you find the perfect location based on your needs as well as help with any permitting or vendor help!

How do we access our photos once they’re edited?

You'll receive a link to your online gallery site - you can download the full resolution images directly from that link!  Feel free to share your gallery with your family and friends as well.

Can my Family or Dog attend our Elopement?

Asbo-freaking-lutely!  We can adventure with your loved ones (both of the human and fur varitey), or we can meet them for a ceremony before or after a couples only adventure.  Some locations do have animal restrictions, so be sure to let me know if the fur babes are coming along.

We’re ready to start planning! What kind of deposit is required?

I'm so excited to start planning your adventure!  To reserve a date and start the planning process, I ask for a flat $500 retainer with the remainder being due on the day of your elopement.

What our Couples are Saying

Melissa and Eric | Denver Elopement

If you are getting married in Colorado, especially eloping, adventure or not, you NEED Savannah Chandler.

We had to cancel our planned “normal” wedding in Arizona due to COVID and looked at Colorado because we didn’t need witnesses or an officiant. The ONLY THING that made this ok was that we found Savannah. It was not at all what we imagined it would be, but it was amazing and perfect to be just the two of us and the images we have as a memory of this special day with just the two of us are INCREDIBLE!!!!

Like, 150% fairytale.

My only regret is not climbing a mountain with her.

Thank you SO much, Savannah. Cannot sing enough of your praises!!!! So friendly, responsive... we had sneak peaks within 24 hours and all our amazing pictures within weeks. And they’re so beautiful!!!!! Seriously, everyone is jealous!!!!!

Can’t wait to do an anniversary adventure with her!!!!

Lela and Zadok | Handies Peak Hiking Elopement

It's been a busy year but this was something I simply could not forget to do. Savannah Chandler Photography was SIMPLY AMAZING! She helped my wife and I capture our special day, going above and beyond, from pitch black hiking to catch the sunrise, helping select a hike/venue for the photos with turned out stunning, and just being an all round joy of a person to be around throughout the entire experience! We can't say thank you enough to Savannah and to anyone who sees this and is looking for a photographer in Colorado, look no further! you've found your gal!

Maria | V2 and Island Lake Hiking Adventure

WOW WOW WOW!!!! I can't say enough good things about Savannah!!! She is an AMAZING photographer, personable, skilled, adventure-ready, her photos truly stand out and speak for themselves! I was beyond excited when she told me she was available to do an adventure shoot up a mountain at sunrise. She's incredibly knowledgeable about locations all over Colorado and gave me specific suggestions to help me pick the perfect spot to meet me- the photos are STUNNING!! She drove hours from Denver, started hiking a ridiculous hour to summit by sunrise and the whole experience with her was such a pleasure! She helped me feel comfortable and beautiful and really went above and beyond to deliver the MOST beautiful photos I've seen. Adventurous, professional, top-of her field- look no further for a photographer to help you get photos that stand out and are absolutely GORGEOUS! Thank You Savannah - you rock! Definitely the person I want doing my photos in the future!

And for those with picky relatives (or who are picky themselves): My mom (who has never liked any professional photos from weddings or other events -yes even the incredibly expensive ones) was so impressed by the quality of Savannah's photos that even SHE is raving about them - I never thought I'd see the day. Again can't recommend her enough - simply EPIC.

Elopement Photography for Adventerous, Spontaneous Couples across the Rocky Mountain Region

Interested in a Hiking Session or an Adventure Session? I'm an avid hiker and seeker of adventure. No hike is too big, no adventure too long. I love tossing on my hiking boots (or snowshoes) and adventuring to the many beautiful places that Colorado has to offer.

Looking to summit a 14er (or my favorite, a 13er)? Let's pack up our gear and head up in the dark to reach the summit at sunrise. There's no better kind of portraits than those on top of a mountain with an amazing alpenglow in the background.

Looking for an elopement outside of Colorado? I'm available worldwide, my passport is ready to go and looking for new stamps.
