Kayla and Wyatt | Sprague Lake and Moraine Valley Engagement
Rocky Mountain National Park Engagement
Savannah Chandler | Estes Park Engagement Photographer
Colorado decided to give us an afternoon show for Kayla and Wyatt’s Sprague Lake engagement session… We had sun, snow, a downpour, and pretty low temperatures. Good old Rocky Mountains, handing us all the weather in two hours time.
I absolutely love photographing in Rocky Mountain National Park – it’s my favorite place in Colorado hands down. There are so many beautiful areas, trails, and you can’t top the views. We chose Sprague Lake due to the entire trail being accessible for Wyatt, which to me is pretty incredible that the park keeps up on the trails for all abilities to enjoy the park. Thank you for that, National Parks Service.
When we first entered the trail, Hallett Peak was visible and I’m so glad we began photographing right away. The storm clouds rolled our way within three minutes of our arrival, and covered the mountain range. I do love me some dark, moody clouds – but I was so happy to grab a few before the beautiful mountain tops disappeared into the grey abyss.
Once the rain began to pour down, we headed towards lower ground at Moraine Park. The valley views at Moraine are stunning, with the Mummy Mountain range standing tall in the distance. Wyatt was quite the trooper, willing to tough it out to the middle of the valley to get the photos that I had in my mind. I love incorporating my couples into the surrounding scenery, focusing on both their connection with each other as well as their connection with their surroundings. Sometimes, my crazy vision has me pushing the envelope to get my couples to the optimal spot. Wyatt and Kayla were amazing… willing to push our limit as far as we possibly could to get them the images I was putting together in my head.
Thank you for the amazing Mountain adventure, and I’m incredibly excited to photograph your July 2017 wedding!
