Alpenglow Stube Wedding | Jean and Nick

I met Jean and Nick last year, while they were in the beginning stages of planning their Keystone  Alpenglow Stube wedding – one of my very favorite Colorado wedding venues.  Sitting up at 11,444 feet, the Alpenglow Stube has amazing views of Mt. Guyot and Bald Mountain, while Schoolmarm (the ceremony site) boast views of Lake Dillon below while facing the Gore mountain range in the background.  As a Keystone wedding photographer, it’s one of the most beautiful locations to celebrate your wedding day.

We started our day with getting ready for Jean and Nick’s traditional Tea Ceremony – a tradition of Jean’s family.  I absolutely loved her red ceremony dress – I find myself drawn to bold colors.  🙂  The tea ceremony consisted of an offering of tea and gifts to each family, with the youngest party gifting to the elder family member.  Both families were gathered around the room, giving a very intimate and loving feel to the ceremony.

Once the Tea Ceremony concluded, we began getting ready for their American ceremony up on Schoolmarm.  Jean and Nick wanted to do a first look down in the River Run area at the base of the gondola.  I was completely shocked that we were starting to see the leaves change in August!  We took our time walking around the base of the mountain for some portraits, then headed up the gondola.

After their American ceremony, we took the secondary gondola up to the Alpenglow Stube.  The lighting has always been FANTASTIC in the evening at every Alpenglow Stube wedding  I’ve photographed – I’ve had the most amazing streams of light coming in through the pines, followed by stunning sunsets on the adjacent mountains.

As a Keystone Wedding Photographer, you can’t ask for better lighting coming through pine trees at 11,444 feet above sea level

To conclude our evening, I asked Jean and Nick if they wanted to take a short walk away from the lights to capture the Milky Way since we had a clear sky that night.  I love doing milky way images, but you have to be far enough away from light pollution for them to be successful.  Most mountain venues are far enough away from the city that you can see the milky way with the naked eye :D.

Thank you again for inviting me to celebrate your Alpenglow Stube wedding with you, Jean and Nick!
