Allie and Isaac’s day was quite unique. When we first started talking about their vision for the day, Isaac let me know they’d be coming out to Colorado and he wanted to propose the same day they had their elopement. He asked me if I though that was doable, to which I replied HECK YES.
They came out to Silverton, and headed to the Molas Pass area the day before their proposalment, and picked out the perfect spot with views of the Weminuche wilderness to start our morning. I met them there just before dawn on a wonderful October morning. Right as the sun broke the horizon with Garfield and Electric Peaks and Vestal Basin in the background, Isaac asked Allie to marry him. To all our *surprise*, she said yes.
After proposing, we ventured to find a little nook tucked in the pines where they could say their vows to one another. Allie loves pine trees, and this area of Colorado has an abundance. One of the great things about having a “Just the Two of Us” elopement day is the flexibility. We were able to walk around and find areas that really had the look and feel that Isaac and Allie were looking for.
Every fall is very different in Colorado – some years the leaves don’t turn until mid to late October in the Southern San Juan mountains. Some they turn mid September. My experience has typically been the leaves are golden that first week of October in our Southern mountain ranges. This past year, everything turned VERY quickly in September, and then subsequently fell off as fast as they changed. We didn’t have a ton of lake-lined foliage for their Mid-October elopement, however we did have amazing willows and ground color surrounding us. We walked around looking for where the sun was hitting all the fall ground cover, and we were able to get that wonderful “Fall in Colorado” vibe.
Once we had walked around, up, down, and across all the areas at Molas Lake, we still had some time left together and headed back towards town to sign and turn their marriage license in. Silverton has one of the cutest, and not-at-all-busy, courthouses in the state. Isaac and Allie went in to make their marriage legal, and bonus they were able to file right then and there.
To cap off our time together, we walked around town for a little while and ended with a personal favorite – the champagne spray.
Congratulations again, Isaac and Allie!
Cheers-
