Last year (wow, it’s already 2016!), Veronica of Mile High Celebrations Wedding and Event Planning and I connected about an amazing couple getting married on the top of Keystone Mountain in 2016.  Jen and Ryan live in Omaha, and are getting married at the top of the mountain this coming August.  Ryan proposed the previous December during the Festival of Lights in Omaha, and they wanted engagement photographs at this amazing location that was near and dear to their hearts.  Some people may call me strange, but Ben and I were so excited to head East to Omaha!  The entire Chandler family is from Nebraska, and we were so excited to make the drive (with a toddler in tow) to see family and take some amazing photographs.

We kept an eye on the weather during the upcoming weeks, and Omaha got hit by a cold snap.  The lights turn off on January 4, so time was of the essence.  Jen and Ryan braved the cold, wind, and cold (did I mention it was cold?) to venture out to the Gene Leahy Mall for their engagement session.

We started photographing on top of a rooftop near the downtown city center, hoping for an amazing sunset.  The sun had other plans for us, but we did get a nice reflection through the clouds.

I absolutely LOVE a little wind in photographs, I love the movement and emotion a little breeze creates.

After photographing for a little while, we all needed a hot beverage to warm up!  What better way to warm up than coffee?!

At 5:00, the sun started to go down and the street lights turned on.  This town is FULL of midwest charm.  There were lights everywhere.

Thank you again, Jen and Ryan, for being troopers and coming out in the nearly 0* temperatures!  You both were so welcoming and fun, I can’t WAIT to photograph your wedding this August!
